Liana Miuccio’s Biography

Visual Artist Liana Miuccio uses photography and filmmaking to explore identity, memory, and migration. She is a dual-citizen with the United States and Italy and was born in Rome and raised in New York City and divides her time between the two cities.  She is a professor at Cornell and Temple University in Rome and has also lectured at numerous universities including, New York University, Middlebury College, and the University of Pennsylvania.

Miuccio’s images have been exhibited across the world. Her recent 2023 solo exhibit, Visual Diary with Miuccio’s images and Puliter Prize Write Jhumpa Lahiri’s text at the Galleria D’Arte Moderna di Roma was sponsored by the American Academy in Rome and Temple University in Rome. Miuccio was a Visiting Artist at the American Academy in Rome in 2023 and is an Arts Advisor since 2023. Her photographs are part of the permanent collection of the Museum of the City of New York.

Miuccio received her B.A. in humanities from McGill University in Montreal, studied photography at the International Center of Photography in New York City, and received her Master’s in cinema from Roma Tre University, Rome, Italy.
